How will you promote Internet safety this year?
Share at least #OneGoodThing that you will do for a secure, flourishing Internet on February 11, which is Safer Internet Day. The National Cyber Security Alliance, Microsoft, and others are spreading the word on digital literacy, safety, and encouraging others to do the same. Our own biggest education push this year? Getting Internet users, businesses, and policymakers to know and discuss what’s Beyond the Dot: new generic top-level domains (gTLDs). Learn more at BeyondtheDot.com and consider attending our February 19 Beyond the Dot conference. How your company embraces new gTLDs will help drive decisions about marketing; audience, brand, and trademark protections; search engine optimization, security, privacy, and technical compatibility for the new Internet world.
For Your Radar
The 2014 Beyond the Dot Conference will be held at the Newseum on February 19. The event will bring together policymakers, corporations, non-profits, government officials, and average Internet users to explore and discuss a different side of new gTLDs – specifically, what they will mean to all Internet users and how they will change the way that we approach Internet navigation, commerce, and other topics. IT political innovator Jim Messina will keynote the event.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) held a series of roundtables from January 21 – January 31, covering the gTLD registration process and how it can be used to protect brands online. FairWinds’ Counsel Steve Levy led a January 29 roundtable in Philadelphia on new generic top-level domains (gTLD); read more about his panel here.
