Yvette Miller ⬥ 21 April
This week, all eyes (or at least those eyes interested in Internet governance) will be on NETmundial, which will be held on April 23 and 24 in São Paulo, Brazil. A full agenda for the multistakeholder Internet conference can be found here.
There are also hubs set up, worldwide, for remote participation.
According to the NETmundial’s website, more than 180 contributions on the future of Internet governance have been received from stakeholders around the globe in advance of the event; these contributions will help frame the conversation in Brazil. Among the topics to be discussed are
- Basic human rights that must be protected online, such as: freedom of expression, freedom of association, privacy, and accessibiliy
- The respect and promotion of culture and linguistic diversity online
- Maintaining a unified and unfragmented Internet
- Maintaining a secure, stable, and resilient infrastructure for the Internet
- Enabling innovation and creativity online
Reports are sure to come out as meetings occur, and we’ll provide updates.
